We’re starting a new year and I was looking back at how wonderful 2010 was for me. I was lucky enough to come across a bunch of amazing people and feel very thankful to have been able to connect with them. A few years ago, it would have been impossible for me to reach any of these people. But because of technology and the power of social media, I got to talk to people from all over the world. That’s pretty cool, don’t you think! Here are some of the interesting and great people I have learned from in 2010:
Lara Galloway (@mombizcoach) from MomBiz Coach helps moms in business make more money doing what they love, so they can take care of their family. Her weekly Women Teleseminar Series is what first attracted me to Lara but soon discovered how genuine and caring person she is. She constantly looks for ways to contribute to her community. Danny Brown (@DannyBrown) Co-founder and partner at Bonsai Interactive Marketing. Danny is not only an amazing blogger but also a fun loving down to earth Scottish dude (love the accent) who’s not afraid to share his views and always brings inspiring ideas to his readers.
Imad Naffa (@imadnaffa) calls himself an “atypical” engineer with over 42,661 followers on Twitter. His global reach got him all the way to China where he was asked to speak at the TedxCanton Conference last September about his experience with social media. I’m still not sure how he can manage to run a successful business and put out all these great Tweets everyday!
Mirna Bard (@MirnaBard) Social Media Strategy Consultant, Trainer, Speaker & Author is one smart lady! She constantly tries to reach each and every person in her community with innovative and personal touches. She’s fabulous and could teach anybody a thing or two about the art of conversation. I’ve also met some great local people: Andree Lavoie, a Real Estate Broker from Remax in Quebec City who I’ve met on Facebook. Karima-Catherine Goundiam (@karimacatherine) from three.angels Marketing and Fabienne Malenfant (@Mafamal ) from Internet Pixels Marketing who I have shared regular Tweets with, all have been a great source of support and help in the last year.
There are so many other people I didn’t mention here and will be many more in the future I’m sure. We no longer have boundaries to stop us from reaching people on a global level. If you’re running a business, your market has opened up to a whole new degree and the possibilities are endless. So for those of you who still don’t understand or believe in social media, why don’t you give it a try. You might be surprised to find amazing people with interesting businesses that you could learn from.
Happy New Year!
